What's A Boob Worth?

This cute Kitty uses lazer guns to fight cancer. Pew. Pew. Pew. ~ Uni-Boob ~ Yesterday, November 20, 2018, I went into surgery again. This is surgery #6 on the left breast. My last surgery was on October 30, only 3 weeks ago. My last surgery was a revision of the left breast. It had swollen (again) and gotten droopy from the swelling. On October 30, the breast was revised to re-lift it. When it "healed" it did not really heal. The incision site did not fully close and I was left with a gaping hole that I had to keep bandaged. Yesterday, my Plastic Surgeon sent me to surgery after seeing me in his office just 2 days ago (on Monday). His intent was to open it, remove the implant, clean out the wound fully, replace the implant, and close the site, placing a drain to make sure fluid-based swelling didn't happen a third time. Plan B was designated that if he opened it and it had infection in there, he would NOT replace the implant, but just clean it really well an...

He's Swimming!

My little nugget James is now in his 3rd month of swimming lessons! He is in Level 1, still learning bobs, jumps and kicks, learning to hold his breath under water and have good control over his kicking motions. Baby steps! After swimming lessons end in the cool pool, I let him stick his feet in the hot tub to warm them up. He's not allowed to get all the way in because he's too little, but he loves putting his feet in! Alas, swimming lessons are a bit too expensive for this single mom at $120/month. I shuffled things around financially to make it happen for month #3 and it's not feasible to do that again. I hope I get to sign him up again soon! His current lessons end before Thanksgiving.

Reconstruction Surgery # 5 (sigh)

On October 30, I went into the hospital at 5:30 AM with my best friend in tow, for reconstruction surgery #5. Hands down, my boobs are tired of surgeries. After the MRSA infection swelled up my left "foob" with infection and my body had to fight it off for several weeks with the help of a regimen of two different antibiotics, 6 doses per day, for WEEKS... the infected foob was visibly larger than the other one. When the infection finally cleared, the infected one dropped. If it was minor and not very visible, that would be fine, but this was not. Another surgery was needed to fix it. Again. I have also been having this shooting pain under the right breast. There is a little bumpy spot that feels like maybe a stitch under the surface and if I move my arm upright (like when I'm swimming), it shoots pains up and down my body. I brought it up in office visits.. more than once... my doctor basically ignored me. The morning of this surgery, I first saw the fellow workin...

The Mystery Illness

After my last surgeries, I suddenly started to become ill... a lot. I still don't know why. We think maybe the MRSA was released and my body had to start attacking it hard, fighting that nasty level of infection. The illness started subtlety... a little tiredness here and there... then I started having blackouts, dizziness, upset stomach, insomnia... and it got worse and worse. I spent days terrified because I could sit perfectly still, only move my eyes, and everything would fade to black every time I moved my eyes. Talk about a scary symptom!! It was like miniature black outs. I would lose my balance constantly, grabbing for whatever is near, and see the world fade to black. When it happened in a store when I was alone with the kids, I got really worried. I went to my oncologist for a checkup. My weird symptoms were a big question mark to them as well. We set up a cardiology work up, a MRI of my brain, and some various tests. On October 23, I went to the ER. I posted to...
