After my last surgeries, I suddenly started to become ill... a lot. I still don't know why. We think maybe the MRSA was released and my body had to start attacking it hard, fighting that nasty level of infection.
The illness started subtlety... a little tiredness here and there... then I started having blackouts, dizziness, upset stomach, insomnia... and it got worse and worse.
I spent days terrified because I could sit perfectly still, only move my eyes, and everything would fade to black every time I moved my eyes. Talk about a scary symptom!! It was like miniature black outs. I would lose my balance constantly, grabbing for whatever is near, and see the world fade to black. When it happened in a store when I was alone with the kids, I got really worried.
I went to my oncologist for a checkup. My weird symptoms were a big question mark to them as well. We set up a cardiology work up, a MRI of my brain, and some various tests.
On October 23, I went to the ER.
I posted to Facebook:
I still don't have answers. I spent a week or so convinced it was caner metastasized to my brain. Now I know it's not that... but there are still no answers!
I have a spinal MRI scheduled for 11/6 after work. I'm hoping it doesn't run too terribly late - that's election day and I intend to head to watch results with some friends! :)

I spent the day yesterday at the ER at U of L. It's hard to describe what's been happening with me. I can sit perfectly still, not moving my head, only my eyes, and looking from one object to another causes my vision to fade to black with an instant of dizziness, then back to a picture. This started Sunday morning and lasted through Tuesday morning, and it was time to go to the hospital.
Brain MRI is clear. EKGs normal. Chest xrays normal. A gazillion tests and the only "off" results are:
Hematology (blood):
- RDW 17.2% (normal is 11.7-15.2) (Could be nutrient deficiency of iron, folate or B12; I take a B12 supplement daily)
Endocrinology: TSH 0.06 (normal is 0.50-5.70) My thyroid levels are too low.
It sucks having no answers STILL, but at least I know I'm not fighting a brain tumor now. I've been pretty damn scared it was a tumor.
